KIRUNAKORTET

Kirunakortet (SWE) is a bus card that costs 200 SEK the first time, and 100 SEK every year thereafter as you switch in your old card for a new one. It's valid for free trips all over Kiruna commune, except for on the bus to the airport.

If LTU does not send a list of new students to the commune, you have to bring a printed birth certificate stating that you are a resident of Kiruna. LTU usually sends a list. On the county buses you either just flash the card or the bus driver "sells" you a ticket; on local buses you just beep it in the beeper.

The card can be bought (with cash or credit card) in the city hall reception, which is open Monday to Friday 9.00-16.00 (closed for lunch 12.00-12.45).

Why does bus 501 always take different routes?

There's a method to the madness. If you want off at Glaciären stops, you have to tell the driver, or they'll just pass by. The only 501-buses that stops outside of Skyttegatan is the 7.50 bus to IRF, and the 16.40 bus from IRF.

How do I read the local time table?

Step by step instructions are coming soon (with pictures)!
